norma fong, dancer

Norma Fong began her studies at Pacific Ballet Academy in Mountain View, California, under artistic director Marion Chaeff. She also studied classical Chinese folk dance from a young age with instructors Yao Yong and Guan Shan Wang, and was a soloist for the Chinese Performing Artists of America. While attending the School of Dance at California Institute of the Arts, Norma worked closely with faculty Colin Connor and Glen Eddy, and was invited to join the Balinese Dance Company lead by CalArts Music School faculty Nanik Wenten and I Nyoman Wenten. During the summers she had the opportunity to train at summer programs around San Francisco such as the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, ODC/Dance, and the LINES Ballet Pre-Professional Program. She graduated from CalArts in May of 2005 with a BFA in dance, performance, and choreography, and went on to dance with Pasadena Dance Theatre for their 2005/2006 season. In October of 2006, Norma moved to San Francisco, where she has had the opportunity to work with several choreographers, including Mark Foehringer Dance Project/SF, Mauelito Biag's Shift>>> Physical Theater, Todd Eckert, and Amy Foley. Recently, she has had the pleasure of working with Margaret Jenkins Dance Company and Guangdong Mondern Dance Company on their collaboration with Other Suns. She has been a member of Robert Moses' Kin since 2006.

Outside of performing Norma also works part time at State Farm Insurance Companies and teaches Chinese Folk Dance to children at Chung Ngai Dance Troupe.
